Fall and Winter HVAC Tips | Millers Heating and Air Conditioning

Keep your system in good working order this season with these top Fall and Winter HVAC maintenance tips.

Filters: Change your filters! The easiest way to stay on top of this task is to set a recurring reminder on your phone. It only takes a minute to do the task and a monthly/bimonthly (depending on the type of filter you use) reminder will make sure you stay on top of it.

Vents: When you change your filters, do it armed with your dust buster or vacuum attachment. If you do a quick clean of your vents every time you change out your filters, you will have a more efficiently running system and won’t have to worry about build up causing issues down the line.

Inspection: Schedule an inspection, if you haven’t already. Make sure your system is up to the task of winter chill BEFORE the weather changes.

Insulation: If you have an attic and it’s not properly insulated you could be losing hundreds of dollars a year of wasted energy. Use this visual guide from Energy Star to assess the state of your storage space.

Thermostat: There are so many great programmable thermostats on the market these days! Not only do they make it easier than ever to control the temperature of your home but they can help you save on your energy and monitor your home when you’re away.
